Piazza>> Brunelleschi
Program: This project was located in piazza Brunelleschi near the Duomo Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence Italy. The building was an addition to the existing library, including a library entrance, reading rooms, exhibition space, and a cafe. The piazza itself is in a forgotten space and the main goal of this project was the revitalization of the area.
Concept/Design Approach: One of my favorite parts about Italian cities are the vast piazzas that can serve many purposes. I wanted to keep this vastness and thus my concept (as shown in the model to the left) was taking the plane of the piazza, separating it and extruding it to create the floors and ceilings of the building.
